Overview

Upcore's development of a HIPAA-compliant wellness platform marks a significant advancement in the delivery of virtual health support. By addressing the challenges of regulatory compliance, user engagement, and service integration, we created a comprehensive solution that meets the diverse needs of both users and providers. As the healthtech landscape continues to evolve, this platform stands as a testament to the potential of technology in enhancing wellness services, ensuring users can access the support they need to maintain and improve their health wherever they are.

Client:

Our client is a health tech startup headquartered in New York, US. The company aimed to revolutionize the way wellness support is delivered by creating a digital service that offers highly personalized health and fitness assistance through a network of professional partners. With a vision to establish an all-in-one SaaS platform, they sought to connect clients with personal nutritionists, fitness coaches, and lifestyle specialists. Recognizing the critical need for patient engagement in healthcare, they designed their solution to be similar to existing healthcare platforms while ensuring it adheres to HIPAA compliance standards.

Challenges:

Despite having a solid concept, the client faced several challenges in bringing their vision to life:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring HIPAA compliance was a top priority. This required a comprehensive understanding of data privacy laws and the integration of security measures into the platform.
  • User Engagement: The platform needed to attract both wellness providers and users while offering seamless functionality that catered to diverse needs.
  • Integration of Services: The challenge was to create a cohesive experience that integrated various wellness services, including virtual consultations, messaging, and on-demand content.
  • Scalability: The platform had to be built with scalability in mind, allowing for the addition of new features and services as user demand grew.
  • Time Constraints: The client required a quick turnaround to launch the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and test their concept in the market.

Solution:

To address these challenges, Upcore devised a strategic plan to develop the wellness platform. Within three months, our team developed the solution’s core functionality and delivered the MVP, which was subsequently extended into a full-fledged product. Here’s how we approached the development:

Development of the MVP

The MVP of the SaaS platform was designed to provide essential wellness support through subscription services. Key features included:

  • Virtual Appointments: Users could schedule one-on-one virtual consultations with fitness coaches, health specialists, and nutritionists. This functionality ensured personalized guidance tailored to individual needs.
  • Unlimited Messaging: The platform enabled private messaging between users and their chosen wellness professionals, fostering ongoing support and communication.
  • Real-Time Classes: The inclusion of real-time fitness classes and lifestyle modification consultations encouraged user engagement and active participation in their wellness journey.
  • Media Library: A robust media library housed on-demand exercise videos and dietary tips, providing users with resources to enhance their health independently.

User Roles and Permissions

The completed platform supported multiple user roles, each with distinct permissions and capabilities:

  • Clients: Individuals seeking fitness, lifestyle, or nutrition consultations could easily navigate the platform to find suitable providers.
  • Providers: Partner organizations offering services via the platform could invite end clients and track their overall activity, ensuring a seamless connection between users and specialists.
  • Consultants: Fitness coaches, nutritionists, and lifestyle specialists utilized the platform to provide personalized video consultations, offering tailored support to clients.
  • Admin: The platform administrator managed various responsibilities, including inviting consultants and providers, creating groups and appointments, tracking consultants’ billable hours, and overseeing media content.
  •

Continuous Development

After the MVP release, our team continued to enhance the platform by integrating more advanced features based on user feedback and emerging market needs. This ongoing development ensured that the platform remained competitive and relevant in a rapidly evolving healthtech landscape.
